Bling is a MODO plugin for adding and removing “matcap” shaders with a customizable one-click menu. Easily add clay, HDR, studio, warm/cool reflection, or zebra stripe shaders for real-time surface evaluation as you work.

Requirements: MODO 801 or later

  • MODO modes bar dropdown auto-magically adds and removes a single matcap (“mecco_bling”) to the top of the shader tree
  • Dynamically-generated menu allows you to add your own matcaps
  • Includes 23 pre-made matcaps, and 2 LXO scenes for creating more of your own
  • Clips are automatically unloaded from RAM when matcap is removed

  • v801-140811 – Greatly improved performance. Added manual ‘update images’ option

These are a few things we’d like to add in the future, though we have no idea when. Is there a feature you’d like to see in a future version? Let us know!

  • Access matcaps via preset browser
  • Assign different matcaps to different materials via preset browser
