MODO Kits

Flipper

Flipper is easy, bullet-proof multi-axis symmetry for MODO. It makes modeling symmetrical things insanely easy.

Requirements: MODO 801 or later.

Features

  • Flipper Popover menu adds itself to default modeling toolbar as well as the Zen toolbar.
  • New Flipper creates a new multi-axis mirror setup with inputs for the axes to mirror: X, Y, and/or Z.
  • Convert to Flipper… converts any mesh item into a new multi-axis mirror setup with inputs for the axes to mirror: X, Y, and/or Z.
  • Flatten Flipper merges all instances into a single “flat” mesh item using the ‘Merging Tolerance’ property.
  • Expand Flipper takes any previously ‘flattened’ Flipper mesh and restores it to its original instance array. (Note: only works with ‘Flipper’ meshes, not with just any mesh item. To use a non-flipper mesh item, use the ‘convert’ command above.)
  • Merging Tolerance is the distance within which nearly-coincident vertices will be merged during the ‘flatten’ operation.
  • Example Files included as examples. Four presets included, and creating new presets is as easy as flattening any Flipper mesh, RMB > Presets > Save.
  • Platform Independent Works with Win, Mac, and Linux.

Changelog

  • v801-140819 – Fresh as a new born babe.

Wishlist

These are a few things we’d like to add in the future, though we have no idea when. Is there a feature you’d like to see in a future version? Let us know!

  • Ability to dynamically change axes to mirror, and delete-half as necessary.
  • Store merging tolerance with mesh item itself so that each item can have its own merging tolerance (rather than using the global value).
  • Flipper expansion pack including more useful starting points.
